Story
Founded on April 18, 1971, the Epsilon Chi chapter of the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity has served Mississippi State University and the city of Starkville for over 50 years. We are a student organization that brings people together through their shared love of music.
The Story of Sigma Alpha Iota
Sigma Alpha Iota was founded on June 12, 1903 at the University School of Music in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Our seven founders are Elizabeth Campbell, Frances Caspari, Minnie Davis Sherrill, Leila H. Farlin, Nora Crane Hunt, Georgina Potts and Mary Storrs Andersen. For 120 years, Sigma Alpha Iota has dedicated itself to bringing people together through their love of music, spreading music in communities and creating philanthropies for music.
